Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has opened its doors Jan. 10 at Sandcreek Commons, featuring the chain’s famous New Orleans-style fried chicken menu.
The new restaurant joins a number of new businesses in the area. (Broulim’s Fresh Foods opened just before the end of the year and Great Clips opened a few weeks prior.)
The first Popeyes opened over 40 years ago in the Big Easy. Since then, the menu has evolved to include various styles of fried chicken and shrimp, wraps and sandwiches, along with a selection of sides such as buttermilk biscuits, corn on the cob and jambalaya. (Fun Fact: While the chain is often associated with the cartoon character, Popeyes actually started as a nod to fictional detective Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in the movie The French Connection. The chain later acquired rights to Popeye the Sailor, but that ended in 2006.)
The Ammon location franchisee is Norcal Cajun Foods from Concord, California.
Currently home to Cabela’s, Hobby Lobby, Broulim’s Fresh Foods, D.L. Evans Bank, Zions Bank, Mountain American Credit Union, Great Clips and Wendy’s, Sandcreek Commons is the growing home for a number of retail outlets and restaurants. Kneader’s Bakery & Café and Rita’s Italian Ice are planning to open at the center in 2016.
