Most of the finely-feathered critters we see in eastern Idaho are easy to identify. Some, however, can leave us scratching our heads.
This challenge is at the very heart of bird-watching and bird photography. (Not surprisingly, the “Birds” category of our annual East Idaho Community Photo Contest is one of our most popular in terms of entry numbers.)
If “birding” is your thing, “Idaho Falls Area Birds” should be your book. This sturdy, spiraled, pocket-sized guide is a joint effort of Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation and the Snake River Audubon Society. It highlights and describes 112 species, all “captured” by local photographers and captioned with each bird's common and scientific name.
