It’s tough to beat the majestic parks of Idaho Falls, but don’t overlook the opportunities just a stone’s throw from town. For one of the more overlooked recreational jewels of eastern Idaho, check out North Bingham County Historical Park.
This Shelley-area property features a historical village with replicas of old buildings, complete with a vintage barn (perfect for livestock exhibits). You’ll also find a pavilion, gazebo and a grassy area with Idaho native plants. To the east is a runway for remote control aircraft.
The venue also functions as a full-featured campground/RV park. It’s a great setting for large family get-togethers, scouting events, weddings and more.
Just recently, we discovered that North Bingham offers an entertaining alternative for nine holes of disc golf. The short course is a little more basic than some layouts like Freeman Park here in I.F. or Ross Park in Pocatello, but it’s a great place to hone one’s skills.
