The College of Eastern Idaho Foundation will be hosting their annual premier fundraiser The Great Race for Education “Flamingo” Edition on 
Friday, July 19, 2019. This large scale scavenger-hunt in downtown Idaho Falls has over 30 teams of four runners registered to participate. If you aren’t a runner but would like to participate then you can register to be a team owner, their role is to help teams solve clues leading them to the next field challenge destination. This crazy event was originally created in 2008 in an effort to rally community support around the scholarship program and bring organizations together to create a sense of camaraderie. The event brings out the business community to participate in a fabulous team-building experience while at the same time paying it forward to support the scholarship program.
Great Race teams of four are $250, team owners are $50 each to support your team of choice and if you want a great lead and chance at placing in the top 10 it is encouraged for teams to purchase the clue package for $500 which includes one immunity challenge pass. Included in the price of teams and owners is a shirt, catered meal by Catered Your Way and after party music by ANDX Entertainment. All proceeds benefit CEI Foundation Scholarship program. There will be fun prizes for participants to win such as a bike donated by Bill’s Bike and Run there will be raffle tickets available purchase to win a gas grill donated by Intermountain Gas Company. The top 3 teams that win the event will award scholarships in their organizations name at the annual scholarship ceremony in April 2020. Each team will have a chance to meet the recipient of their scholarship and have a photo opportunity. Last year this event raised over $55,000 and our 2019 goal is $75,000 to support CEI student scholarships.
Major sponsors for the 2019 Great Race for Education are Snake River Landing, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Mountain View Hospital, Idaho Central Credit Union, Fisher’s Technology, Cargill, Intermountain Gas, Valley Office Systems, Wells Fargo, Teton Auto Group. The event is expected to bring a record amount of teams and sponsors. Since the inception of this event the community has helped raise well over $350,000 to support the scholarship program.
Natalie Hebard, Foundation Executive Director explains, “The Great Race for Education has quite a following and was originally intended to be held for just a few years in place of the traditional golf tournament.
