Hold on to your skirt, Idaho Falls! Our community is poised for explosive growth if recent statewide trends are any indicator.
Have you heard the recent reports from the west side of our beautiful state that our capital has been ranked as the fastest-growing city in America? According to a report from businessinsider.com and Forbes, Boise saw an 18.2% population jump from 2010 to 2018. In 2019, it was also ranked as the best place to live for millennials, and the best U.S. city to buy a house.
But Boise aside, how about the state in general? Turns out that Idaho has topped the list of "Top Moving Destinations of 2019"—the first time since 1992—according to the 2019 National Movers Study by United Van Lines.
In 2019, more residents moved into Idaho than out of the state, with 67.4 percent of moves being inbound.
The top-10 inbound states of 2019 were:
- Idaho
- Oregon
- Arizona
- South Carolina
- Washington
- District of Columbia
- Florida
- South Dakota
- North Carolina
- New Mexico
The study showed residents are continuing to flock to the Mountain West (more than 56 percent inbound moves) more than any other region with Idaho, Nevada and Arizona all making the list of top inbound states. The South also saw a high number of people moving in—with more than 54 percent of moves being inbound.
