IDAHO FALLS - With its log-cabin feel and custom bear carvings and murals, the Black Bear Diner feels like a home away from home.
“The whole idea is to make things homey and comfortable for our guests,” said Jolisa Johnson, Black Bear Diner director.
Black Bear Diner has a different menu for all three meals of the day, but breakfast is served as long as the “Open” sign stays lit. With sweet cream pancakes, thick-cut bacon and fresh-squeezed orange juice to boot, there’s little wonder that the breakfast menu has some of Black Bear Diner’s most popular items.
“Plenty of people enjoy our sweet cream pancakes at 8 p.m.,” Johnson said, adding that the pancake recipe, while extremely popular, is proprietary.
Come hungry because homestyle cooking and big portion sizes have been themes at Black Bear Diner since it first opened in Mt. Shasta, California in 1995. With those signature themes, along with the signature bear sculptures that can be seen at every location, the diner is set to open its 100th restaurant this year.
