2020 was a rough year all around. What better way is there to celebrate the New Year than taking a look at some of the lives lighting the world on the first of the month? These babies are certainly a bright spot in our region as we move forward into 2021.

Madison Memorial Hospital
At 3:52 a.m. New Year's Day morning, a new baby boy became the first of approximately 1500 babies that will be delivered at Madison Memorial Hospital this year. While he is the first at the hospital, Zebediah Christman is the eighth child in his family.
His parents, Dan and Rosie, were thrilled to welcome the 7 lbs 7 oz. addition to their home. The hospital congratulated the family with several gifts for Zebediah and his parents to enjoy.
“I think we’re all ready for a fresh start,” said Rosie’s certified nurse midwife, Becca Helie. “What better way to kick off the new year than a brand new baby?”

Portneuf Medical Center
A couple from Chubbuck welcomed their first child into the world. Baby Myles Hager was the first baby born in the New Year at Portneuf Medical Center; he was born at 7:59 a.m. on Jan. 3.
Parents, Jessica and Damien, are excited about the arrival of their beautiful son. When asked about caring for a baby during a pandemic, Damien commented, “We are going to take all the precautions we can to be safe.”
Being the first baby born in the New Year, Myles and his family received an oversized red wagon full of diapers, wipes, a baby rocker, baby monitor, baby gift set, a bath set, a diaper bag, and more. The wagon of gifts was generously donated by the Portneuf Auxiliary.

Grove Creek Medical Center
A local Blackfoot family spent New Year’s Day welcoming their new addition. Ladd and Zoey were thrilled to welcome their new baby boy just a few hours after midnight at 2:46 a.m. on Jan. 1. He weighed 8 lbs 3 oz.

EIRMC
Welcome baby girl, Fayth! She’s EIRMC’s first baby of 2021. Based off of that adorable grin we can tell that she’s excited for the future! Congrats to parents, Syrena and Wyatt; they were given a “first baby of the New Year” gift basket full of baby goodies from the EIRMC Volunteer Auxiliary.
