Whether it’s your first time celebrating Independence Day in Idaho Falls or you’re a seasoned veteran to the yearly event, it can be difficult to keep track of all of the going-ons. Here is a simple break-down of the three major events taking place on July 3 and what you can expect:

Liberty on Parade

“Liberty on Parade” is the largest Independence Day Parade in Idaho and will begin at 9 a.m. The Grand Marshal, Governor Little, will lead over 120 marching groups down Fourth Street to South Boulevard, then south to Tautphaus Park. Parade Guides will be available before the event at the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce (355 River Pkwy.)

Additionally, the Exchange Club of Idaho Falls will once again lead the way at this year’s Independence Day Parade. Members hand out over 14,000 mini American Flags to children along the parade route.

Riverfest at Snake River Landing

Riverfest begins directly after the Independence Parade at 12 p.m. The celebration takes place at Snake River Landing and lasts until right before the fireworks begin at 10 p.m. The event includes 20 food booths, live performances, bounce houses for the kiddos and other attractions. Admission is free for everyone.

28th Annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration

The Melaleuca Freedom Celebration is the largest Independence Day fireworks show west of the Mississippi River. The show begins promptly at 10:03 p.m. at Snake River Landing. You won’t want to miss the show, as it is promised to be the biggest ever!
