The Shepherd’s Inn Pregnancy Support Center’s mission is “Making a difference...two lives at a time.” They strongly believe that healthy, supported parents grow healthy supported children.
Since 1998, The Shepherd’s Inn has been providing a free, structured and supportive program. The program is client directed and strives to help clients formulate a parenting plan and find tools to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. Helping them make informed decisions and enhance the best possible outcome for themselves and their babies. They offer pregnancy and parenting counseling and education, outreach to parents at two local high schools, and an Earn While You Learn incentive program for clients to earn vouchers to purchase baby items.
In order to provide these services, they heavily rely on the annual ‘Win the Whole Cow’ fundraiser. Win the Whole Cow consists of a Grand Prize of a whole cow; purchased from the Bonneville 4-H Fair and donated by Melaleuca’s founder and CEO, Frank Vandersloot. The beef is generously processed at no charge by Thieman’s Meats. In addition to the Grand Prize (valued at over $4,000), those participating in the fundraiser have the chance to win gift baskets and other prizes totaling over $5,000. As you can imagine, the “steaks” are high!
“Year after year I am blown away by our community’s charitable giving,” said Julie Zahn, the executive director. “Because of this we are able to witness young families thrive.”
