POCATELLO -- At last night’s City Council Meeting, City Clerk Konni Kendell administered the oath of office for Josh Mansfield, Rick Cheatum, Linda Leeuwrik and Brian Blad.
“For the past few months, in preparation for my term as an elected official, I have spent hours meeting with students, citizens, and City workers,” stated Mansfield. “We have an amazing community, and I am eager to begin serving alongside everyone who is working to make Pocatello the best that it can be.”
“I am looking forward to another four years on the Council and very much appreciate the confidence in me shown by the voters in the November 2nd election,” said Cheatum. “I promise to carefully consider every issue before the Council with an eye to the bright future of our community.”
“I'm honored to be reelected to a second term and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our wonderful community,” said Leeuwrik. “I look forward to working together to help Pocatello thrive, with a strong economy; excellent employment, educational and recreational opportunities; and a vibrant and walkable downtown.”
“Thank you for your support and the confidence you’ve shown in me as your Mayor,” said Blad. “I’m excited to continue the great work the City has been doing with economic development, access to the river, park improvements and more. Pocatello has a bright future, and I’m looking forward to working with all of you over the next four years.”
Following the swearing-in, Council Member Cheatum was elected City Council President. The Council President serves as the head of the City Council and helps represent the City at various events. Cheatum will also be called upon to serve as Acting Mayor when Mayor Brian Blad is unavailable.
