The Idaho Falls Spud Kings are making their highly anticipated return to the ice with more talent and passion than ever.

The Spud King’s 1st season on the ice in 2022 was celebrated so much so in the community that this year’s tickets are already selling out. “It has exceeded my wildest expectations,” Kevin Greene, President of the Idaho Falls Spud Kings said. “We are excited to be playing good hockey in front of our fans again this year at home.”

With the first season under their belts, the team is making their way from Tier III to Tier II. The jump from Tiers allows for a higher level of competitive hockey. “Our fans will definitely notice an upgrade in skill level and the size and speed of the players,” Kevin said.

Both the president and general manager of the Spud Kings have attested to the talent and skill-levels of this season’s roster.

“As we make the jump to Tier III from Tier II, it was important for us to establish a core group of players early on in the offseason and build around that group,” Erik Hudson, general manager of the Spud Kings, said. “We will be an extremely skilled team this year, with quite a bit of speed, scoring touch and hockey IQ. Our team will be comprised of a great leadership group, who not only will represent the Spud Kings on the ice, but they will also do a wonderful job in our community.”

Aside from improving the roster, there are a handful of things to look forward to this season. The official season begins Oct. 7 and fans can look forward to 29 home games at the Mountain America Center. “We will host a number of games where jerseys will be auctioned off following the games,” Kevin said. “Many nights will be returning including hat nights, t-shirt nights and the tater toss, all to benefit things like first responders, cancer awareness, etc.”

The Spud Kings are also excited to introduce their newest member this season—King Tot. King Tot is the official mascot for the Spud Kings, and is sponsored by the Idaho Potato Commission.

The Spud Kings are thrilled to share another incredible season with the community, fans and hope to continue to inspire youth hockey. “We look forward to the on ice product for all of our fans in Idaho Falls,” Erik said.
