The spaces we call home become uniquely us when filled with decor, trinkets and the furniture pieces we choose. Each piece holds its own meaning and contributes to the feel of the home but it’s no secret that it can be costly.
Decorating and furnishing your home on a budget can be done in a number of ways. Taking something old and making it new and collecting vintage finds are two of Christy Monroy’s favorite ways to enhance interior design.
Since she was a young girl, Christy Monroy dreamed of becoming a business owner and it wasn’t until she met Belinda Jones that she would become one. In Oct. 2023, Christy and Belinda began their business venture when they opened the doors to Timeless Trends & Decor.
Timeless Trends & Decor is a second hand store filled with decor, furniture and an abundance of vintage pieces. Each item is carefully selected by the two owners who share a passion for home design.
For Christy, it all started with restoring an old dresser. “My daughter needed a dresser and she said, ‘Why don’t we just paint one?’” Christy said. “She’s the reason this all started because it was something she wanted to do together.”
After finding a dresser on Facebook marketplace for $10, Christy unknowingly began the journey of a lifetime. “I realized how much I loved it,” Christy said. “We restored a couple of nightstands and we didn’t need them, so we just sold them.”
The journey snowballed when she accumulated more buyers and the turning point moment came when she crossed paths with Belinda.
Belinda had been selling home decor from her garage for about the same amount of time when they realized they shared the same passion and drive for a home decor business. “I was blown away after seeing her garage,” Christy said. “We started talking and we were both on the same page when it came to owning a store and wanting to do the same things.”
Christy and Belinda’s unique journey mirrors the uniqueness of Timeless Trends & Decor. “It was super important to us to make ourselves different,” Christy said. “It’s important to me to be different and unique and to create our own ideas on things.”
The mixture of affordable antique and vintage pieces along with trendy home decor and furniture sets this little shop apart. Upon entering, you can’t help but notice the beautifully displayed decorations. “I wanted every shelf to look different and like something you’d see in your own home,” Christy said.
Located on the West side of town in the Westfield Plaza, the shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and pick-ups in-store when shopping online are available.
