What began in 1955 as a milk delivery business expanded over the decades into an iconic staple in Idaho Falls. Reed’s Dairy is a farm-to-table business that serves the community with only the best dairy products, landing them Best Ice Cream in the Dining Awards Contest consistently.
Larry Reed began this business in 1955, and unbeknownst to him at the time, it would become a legendary and integral part of the community. While his two brothers, LeRoy and Dave operated the farm growing hay, potatoes and grain, Larry came up with the idea to bring milk directly to the customer—an idea ahead of its time.
Now 69 years later, Reed’s Dairy is operated by Larry’s son Mike Reed, his nephew Alan Reed and Refugio Cervantes.
Alan Reed, President of Reed’s Dairy, remembers when the torch was passed along to him in the early 1980s as a big responsibility to carry on the legacy of the family business. “I felt a lot of responsibility to carry on the many generations before me and to grow the business.”
Over the years, Reed’s Dairy continued to do just that, grow. The business now has six locations in eastern and western Idaho, two of which are located in Idaho Falls.
At each location, you can purchase a range of dairy products, from chocolate milk to cheese curds to eggnog and, of course, ice cream. Delicious, delectable ice cream.

Looking to the future, Alan hopes to see Reed’s Dairy continue to grow. “I’d like to see the business continue to head in the right direction and grow,” Alan said. “We have such a great team of officers, managers and staff that work together so we all succeed.”
