Skiing at Kelly Canyon

Located above the South Fork of the Snake River, this family-friendly ski area is for both beginners and skiing experts. These ski slopes are said to be some of the best in East Idaho, and whether you enjoy downhill, nordic, snowboarding or tubing, Kelly Canyon has it all. 

Snowboarding at Grand Targhee

The mountains at Grand Targhee Resort are the perfect place to ride hard, go fast and have fun. Whether you love snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing or fat biking, Grand Targhee has a mountain of activities to choose from. 

Snowmobiling at Island Park

The snowmobile trail systems found at Island Park are one-of-a-kind in East Idaho. This resort has miles and miles of groomed trails to ride around and to experience the beautiful winter views. 

Snow Tubing at Gateway Parks

The tube hill at Gateway Parks on West Sunnyside Road provides fun for families with its world-class tubing. Aside from the tube hill, you can ski and snowboard on the hill and enjoy hot cocoa, cider, coffee, candy, nachos and pretzels. There are also family-friendly ice-fishing opportunities nearby at Ryder Park’s Becker Pond.

Snowshoeing Harriman State Park

Snowshoeing at Harriman State Park is the ultimate winter adventure. With 24 miles of groomed trails, snowshoeing and nordic skiing are popular winter activities at Harriman. Grab a friend and your snowshoes, and hit the trail!

Sleigh Rides through Sun Valley 

A sleigh ride through the hills is the perfect way to spend a winter day. Located in the Sun Valley Village, this sleigh ride will take you and your family on a magical experience as it guides you through the snow covered landscape.

Horse Trolleys around Downtown

Enjoy an old fashioned horse drawn trolley ride in the heart of historic downtown. All trolley rides are free, and will take you along the streets of downtown to see the festive lights and decorations. 

Ice Skating at Tautphaus Park

If spending a winter day outside isn’t your jam, the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena is for you. This ice skating rink is located at Tautphaus Park and is a gem in the community for many reasons. Rental skates, snacks and a locker room are available at the arena. 

Tubing at Idaho Falls Snow Park

What’s winter without going down a snow hill in a tube? At Idaho Falls Snow Park, there are a variety of run sizes, whether you’re wary of the snow or looking for a thrill. The snow park is located on Bone Road and tube use is included with your ticket purchase. 

Stroll through the LaBelle Lake Ice Palace 

Strolling through the LaBelle Lake Ice Palace is simply magical and unlike any other winter experience. Here you can find beautiful ice formations, hundreds of feet of ice tunnels, sled hills, food vendors and live fire performances. 

Ice Skate at the Downtown Ice Rink

Ice skate in a winter wonderland at the Downtown Idaho Falls ice-skating rink. Located along the river, this ice-skating rink offers magical views of the lights and snow Downtown. All ice-skating sessions are free and rental skates are available.

Hike Cress Creek Trail

Hiking the Cress Creek Trail is a year-round activity, but is particularly pretty during the winter months. When the snow hits the ground, the trail offers breathtaking views and better yet, a steady and careful climb. The trail also has opportunities to view wildlife from deer to rabbits to bald eagles, and sometimes moose. 

Sled at Community Park

Sledding down the hill at Community Park is a must for your winter bucket list. The hill found at Community Park makes for a great day sledding with the family, and is free!

Warm up at Heise Hot Springs

Need to warm up after a day spent in the snow? The hot springs at Heise are the perfect place to warm up in the winter. After you warm up, enjoy some pizza at the Heise Pizza Parlor!
