Isaac Voss and his wife, Wendy Voss, moved to Idaho Falls to fulfill their dream of owning their own bubble-tea “boba” shop and in July of 2024, their dream came true.

The dream of owning a boba shop sprouted after the couple made many trips to Asia and developed a love for the handcrafted drink. “My wife is from Vietnam and we travel to Asia constantly. Boba is also something we had in Georgia a lot, where we’re originally from. There are boba shops everywhere there,” Isaac said. “Boba for us was an everyday thing.”

OneZo Boba had its grand opening on July 20th and has been serving the highest quality boba around since. This Taiwanese bubble tea brand originated in Taiwan in the 1980s but has since made its way around the globe and is known as ‘the Art of Boba’.

At OneZo, these “tapioca pearls” are cooked fresh daily and to perfection. What makes OneZo boba unique is that it is made in-house and fresh daily, sometimes twice a day.

The process begins by mixing all of the ingredients in a mixer then needing the dough to the perfect consistency. “If it’s not perfect, it’s not good,” Isaac said. Next, the dough is put into the boba machine where the dough gets cut and rolled into balls. “OneZo is the only brand in the United States that has a patented machine that allows us to make boba in-house,” Isaac said.

After a fresh batch of boba is made, it is stored in the fridge, where it reaches the perfect texture. And while boba is the key ingredient of this hand-crafted drink, the other ingredients are just as important. The different flavors of tea, syrups, jellies and toppings are all imported from Taiwan and made with real fruit.

OneZo Boba is a hand-crafted boba boutique in the heart of the city, welcoming everyone.

“We wanted to create a space where families and friends can hang out without being rushed. We’ve got some games so people feel welcome or if someone wants to come and study, by all means. The whole nine yards,” Isaac said.
