Eva Farkas has been Jakers’ Bar Manager for 16 years now. We sat down with her to see what brought her to Jakers and, more importantly, what has made her stay.

Q: How did you get started at Jakers?

A: I moved here from Southern California. I wanted to get away into the beautiful mountains of Idaho, and I decided that I’d send out resumes and if I got hired, I would pack up and move here and that is exactly what happened. I got two job offers and one of them was here and one of them was somewhere else and they finally made me the bar manager so I just stayed here and I’ve enjoyed every year of it.

Q: Have you always been a bar tender?

A: I have been a bar tender since I was 20 years old. I started bar tending on the North Shore of Owaho, a pool bar. It was a rough job but I enjoyed. There was an ocean view. I moved back to California and got jobs at more bars, the California Grill being one of them, Fine Dining, Seafood Parlor and Saloon. I stayed with those companies 10 years and 9 years, so I had long stays with all of them. Prior to that I grew up in pastry business because my dad and mother owned a pastry shop because we’re Hungarian. That’s where I learned all my priority skills and all my multitasking skills – from my parents.

Q: Why have you stayed at Jakers so long?

A: The places I have worked have been similar to this, but really great clientele keeps me here and great team and management. You really can’t ask for more than looking forward to coming to work to spend time with the people you work with and wait on.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

A: We are looking forward to adding some new additions to the bar soon – new beer taps, new wine caves – and it’s just going to make a [great] product even better.
