The days of Barbie Dolls and Tonka Trucks are long gone, but there will soon be toys-galore of a different sort at the old Toys R Us location on the corner of Hitt and 17th.
Al's Sporting Goods, a full-line specialty sporting goods retailer, will be moving into the former 30,000 square foot toy merchandise building, with an anticipated opening date of September 2020.
“For decades we have been looking for the golden opportunity in Idaho Falls and we finally found it,” said Kris Larsen, CEO of Al’s Sporting Goods and third-generation family member. “We have many friends and longtime customers from southeastern Idaho. When this opportunity arose, we jumped on it quickly.”
For nearly a century, the family-owned and operated sporting goods retailer has been a mainstay in Logan, Utah. Offering gear for every sport and every season, as well as an expansive collection of clothing and footwear by top brands that include Nike, The North Face, Under Armour, Patagonia, Columbia, Rossignol, Browning, Trek, Vortex, Simms, Black Diamond, Burton, Specialized, Salomon, Easton and Osprey.
Almost three years ago Al’s Sporting Goods opened its second location in Orem, Utah, at University Place, and is thrilled to be opening its first store outside of Utah.
