Steve Vucovich and his family founded the Apple Athletic Club in 1986. In 2001 they built a state-of-the-art building that sported 5 indoor tennis courts, 3 swimming pools, 2 racquet ball courts, on-site child care, optimized traffic flow, efficient high functioning HVAC systems and separate staff entrances. Little did they know that 20 years later these features would benefit them during COVID-19 as they would have to accommodate club members, employees and the CDC guidelines.
In order to comply with phase 3 regulations and allow their members to feel safe while exercising, the club has made added changes to the culture of their facility. The club has increased the amount of sanitization stations throughout, at entry all members get their temperature taken and touch free sign-in is available. Work out machines have been spaced out to allow for social distancing requirements. The club has a specific team dedicated to full-time equipment cleaning and all employees are required to wear a mask, take their temperature and wash their hands before starting their shift.
Vucovich says, “We’ve taken extraordinary precautions to ensure members safety from the virus and I think that if there’s any public place that they can go to, it will never match the capacity that we have at the club to ensure their health. People should come in and check us out and see what is available to keep them safe and healthy.”
The Apple Athletic Club is open 24/7. Make sure to check their website for any news.
