The tale often goes: boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl. Whichever way it goes, the tale of love is one-of-a-kind for every couple and the unique journey that leads to the big ‘I do’ is a fairytale come true.

Tying the knot is arguably one of the most significant days in a person’s life. From popping the question to walking down the aisle to the celebration after, each moment is special.

Capturing the special moments of first kisses, first dances and so on, has been one of photographer Kendra Handy’s favorite storylines since she bought a camera over nine years ago. “Weddings are the happiest times in people's lives,” Kendra said. “I just love to be around happy people.”

Kendra specializes in family, birth and wedding photography, capturing a wide range of timeless moments.

Wedding photography especially gives Kendra the opportunity to use the camera to tell a tale of love. “The wedding day is all about emotion,” Kendra said. “There is a magic in photography and it’s a joy to capture the emotions in a way that becomes the memory.”

When it comes to the big day, choosing a photographer is just as important as choosing the perfect venue, gown or florals.

Capturing the collection of memories takes skills and techniques that only a wedding photographer understands. “Wedding photography is event photography,” Kendra said. “You have to know when to be a fly on the wall and what to capture in the moment and when to step in to help people get to certain areas or on the schedule.”

The art of wedding photography lets you look back to see the emotions you shared with your partner, the laughs you shared with your bridesmaids, the smile on your grandfather's face or the happy tears in your mom’s eye—all priceless moments.

The artistic talent and technical expertise that professional photographers have are worth budgeting into your big day to remember those priceless moments. “When you’re looking for a wedding photographer, you need to find someone who’s comfortable shooting in all sorts of light,” Kendra said. “Lighting is everything.”

Whether the venue is indoors or outdoors and whereas you can’t control the natural lighting, having a photographer also gives you the option to capture photos other than on the wedding date. “There’s nothing that can replicate good, natural light,” Kendra said. “I usually suggest planning a session before or after the wedding where we can pick the time of day that’s the prettiest and a location that’s meaningful to them for some really beautiful photos.”

The vulnerable and raw moments are all carefully captured by Kendra, whether staged or shot in the moment. And planning to have a photographer not only reminds you of the special emotions, but of all the intricate details that were a part of your big day, too. The centerpieces, floral arrangements, cake topper, guest book and everything else that was carefully picked, warrant a photo memory.

Kendra Sue covers photography in East Idaho, Jackson Hole and the Teton Valley. Capturing the joy of couples and families' new beginnings is what makes Kendra happy. “My business isn’t about pictures. It’s about people,” Kendra said.

Preserving the happiest moments of your life and being able to share them with friends, family, your kids and grandchildren are treasures that will live on forever. “We’re all going to look back at pictures of our wedding days and remember the connection and emotion we felt.”
